A beautiful national park with an abundance of trails to explore, this was a great day hiking through the bush. Pretty good cover for most of the trail but I’d say bring sunscreen for sure and lots of water. Total end to end route was near 10 miles so it’s definitely a full days hike, especially with decent incline. Your reward is a beauty of a panaromic view at the end! Also, there’s a nice section around 15% in for a swim so do bring a change of clothes :)

Absolutely beautiful. I had no idea this was hidden so close to Sydney. The water is beautiful and blue. The mountains and absolutely gorgeous. It’s mostly secluded other than the boats, only a few houses on water so it’s absolutely dreamy. Will definitely be back soon.

Awesome lookout to spend a few hours. Beautiful view of palm beach and the lighthouse. Need to get a ticket for $12 for a car but it’s worth it. Once you enter the National park, it can be felt like a lot of people come here for Car Drifting which I think is illegal though. If you are to spend a few hours with the cool breeze I suggest taking a rest mat with you as there are a very few benches and there’s no comfortable place to sit elsewhere.

Short distance from most Sydney suburbs. Can be a mission over weekends driving there with cyclists clogging up the very narrow roads - but once you adjust and take in the scenery it doesn't bother that much anymore. Ample hiking routes spread out across the park, ranging is length and difficulty grading.

We love national parks! So close to the city but a million miles away from anywhere. A great spot for boating and fishing, picnicking and bushwalking. Sad face to the Jet Ski Crowd. A significant proportion can’t seem to grasp basic human decency. Regularly exceed speed limits and huge wash is no wash zones. Clogging ramps and jetties with large numbers of machines. Not maintaining clearances around other vessels especially at anchor/on moorings/towing skiers. There is plenty of room for everyone. Please share.

It’s my last week in Sydney after studying abroad at Macquarie since July and never got around to doing a bush walk so this was the perfect place for me with many amenities such as a cafe, playground, boat rentals, bathrooms, event spaces, and of course and nice trails! Conveniently located (I took the 259 bus to the Delhi Rd stop and then the metro on the way back to Macquarie!) It’s definitely recommended to have a plan before you begin as the trails can be lengthy. And thankfully the weather was perfect for a hike with partly cloudy skies and cool temps. I did the Riverside Trail starting near the cafe before turning off at the Halfway Point and walking down a long secluded road that brought me to the camping resort. The Riverside Trail was a pretty moderate trail with a few stairs and narrow areas especially where there were rocks. Saw a BUNCH of water dragons, some bush turkeys, and lots of ducks. This park is so beautiful and also walked past a lot of private parties with some being covered and others not. The cafe is also a good touch and has plenty of options! It was a lovely Sunday afternoon!

Great place to stay if you want to explore Sydney. Short walk to public transit to get downtown. It's also has walking trails which are great for spotting animals and birds. Every day a kookaburra came and sat behind our campervan.

We have been (at least) weekly visitors to the park for around 12 years...cycling circuits from the main gate house up to Lane Cove Road. It's roughly 8.5km a circuit, plenty of hills, and importantly, pretty safe. Recently resurfaced, it's a great experience, with water dragons, wallabies and the occasional snake! And make sure you join Sherman for a coffee at the coffee shop. Excellent.

One of those hidden gems in a very large city. Lane Cove NP is a great place to run, and that is how I enjoyed it. Well worth checking out.

It has a few walking tracks. I especially liked the riverside walking track which ends at De Burghs Bridge.There are many picnic spots with BBQ (both electric and wood based).You can hire different kinds of boats here but dont forget to wear the life jacket. The forest and bush walk was so zen and earthly, I felt so peaceful and calm. The entry is free but if you want to park your car, its 8$. Its great for biking, running, walking or strolling.

Amazing to have such a big national Park so close to the city. Natural bush setting with picnic spots along the river and even a bit of local wildlife. Watch out for the hungry kookaburras when you're eating your lunch, they'll snatch it right out of your hands. If you visit in the early morning by bicycle the roads are closed to cars so you get a great ride.

This is a great track for people of all ages. It is very flat and can be ridden easily on most bikes. The views of the lagoon are wonderful - you circle the whole thing so you get to see it from all sides including 2 creek crossings. There were many other cyclists and walkers there while we rode the track which was awesome - lots of people outside being active. As its a circuit you can park or access the track from whatever side is convenient to you so you are not all competing for access or parking at the same point. About 5kms of the track is dirt so it could be messy and more challenging after rain.

This little known setting in the bush of Nth Rocks offers such a tranquil retreat. There are well laid paths to get there and you can take your dog on a leash with you. There are many other paths you can walk from here.

It is a very nice waterfall in the city. Caringford area. Just a short walk, you will see a waterfall. I do recommend to visit after heavy rain. You will see a lot of water. It is good for kids. Friendly for pet.

And each time it's been slightly different depending on the time of year (season), the amount of sun penetrating the canopy of the trees, and what the recent rainfall's been like. This place is truly magical, I found my true nature spirit and soul in amongst the Mangroves near the creek end of this magnificent park. I went to the pavilion where there was the most splendid sound of a clarinet bellowing throughout the Sydney Olympic region. It overlooked a beautiful pond with a mystical black swan. My life has been changed forever if I could give this angelic destination more stars I would.

Awesome little trail, great for a day out. The walk itself is fairly easy - saw plenty of children and people of all types making their way through the bush. I like that it was fairly close to Hornsby train station, no car needed and plenty of spots to grab food once you’re finished and worked up an appetite! The only downside is that it was fairly busy, so don’t expect a particularly silent or peaceful hike.

Good walk, which can be extended to many other trails. - and very close to train station!! However, I believe that there are things people should consider/ know 1) Google map says the Blue Gum Walk starts from Quarry Rd, but in fact, the starting point is "The Great North walk" which will bring people to "Blue gum walk" eventually. I spent nearly 15 minutes to find out a way to Blue Gum walk while walking back and forth. Besides, Google map - voice guided wrong direction! Therefore, I advise that you should check map to avoid entering into a bike trails. However, once entered into the trail, that's it. Very easy to follow. 2)if you love bush walk but your knees cannot support your walk greatly (like me), consider starting from Rosemead Rd Picnic area, rather than Great North walk on Quarry rd. The Great North walk starts from Quarry rd will lead you to long steep steps downward which will give huge impact on your knees. I nearly moaned for knee pain on the day I entered this walk via Great North Walk. Rosemead Rd is still steep but will bring less impact on knee with no steps. 3) this walk is very well posted. I confidently say this walk is well posted, much better than world famous Blue Mountain. However, still you can find yourself struggling without knowing where to go (like me) 4)one downside of this walk is too close to residential area but I believe that this can work as an advantage for a beginner - phone signal is quite strong in most of area (I am with Telstra) so you can ring for help and access map,etc. which can bring peace of mind, particularly when you try walk alone. 5)be careful. Please never be too confident to walk now. After the catastrophic bush fire between 2019 - 2020 and extreme weather, storms, I finally returned to here after ~4months of pause (returned on 20/02/2020). This walk is well restored but still have safety issue, especially for children, who are mindlessly jumping and running. I decided to take a photo and update this to warn people decided to bring their kids. Please remember that this is not an only damage but there are numerous. By the way, I am living in Hornsby, great to have a bush in walking distance

Best time of the year to walk / run this track is the cooler months, I used this track as part of my trail run today, the creek has running water in it at the moment, conditions are cool, not cold, track condition is excellent. This is a great walk / run, be sure to bring water with you, good set of walking or running shoes with good grip.

One of the best bushwalking and trail running areas for technical trails around. Beautiful country especially after a week of rain when the creeks are flowing. There's a couple of ways in and it is too tight for trail bikes so your serenity wont be ruined!

It's a walk/'hike' that takes about 3 hours... but I was not prepared for it. I heard locals talk about it but didn't do much research before the hike. Although it was much longer than I expected (and pretty tiring), the views were incredible.There were parts where I felt like I was hiking through a jungle! There are bathrooms along the way, a few small beaches, and many benches for you to stop and soak in the nature. I actually went from Manly to Spit, and there's a bus stop at the end of the walk with a few buses that go towards the city. Use google maps when you're at Spit, and it'll direct you where to go and what buses to take!

A great walk. Some stair work but many places to stop and review the scenery. I like walking from the spit to manly rather than the reverse as you get to relax in manly and you benefit from the breeze. Photos are just some if the animals we saw this time.

What a beautiful walk on the coast from Spit Bridge to Manly Beach! It's about 3 hours total so be ready for a little hike. You hike a bit along the coast and then walk through some residential streets. Make sure you follow the signs that have arrows and read Manly. There will likely be people on the same route too! You could take a ferry from Manly wharf to Circular Quay if that's the direction you're in. Worth the ride back for the experience and views, especially in the evening to see an illuminated Opera House on the way back!

Beautiful coastal walk! My partner and I live in Manly and we like to do this walk whenever we get a beautiful day off. We start in Manly and catch the bus back from the “Sydney Rd after Kempbridge Ave” bus stop near the Spit Bridge.

Park at Manly and started running up to The Spit. The undulating track varies from even concrete pavement to wooden planks, to dirt. Challenging enough to walk, even more so for running! But the view’s rewarding with lookout points scattered along the way. Manly to The Spit distance is around 8.6km.

Great but so sad to see rubbish

A real hidden gem in the heart of suburban North Sydney. The track runs alongside a creek towards Sailors Bay, through woodland dappled with sunlight. It's a little steep in places but there are chunky stone steps that look like they've come from the set of 'Lord of the Rings'. When you're on the path it's hard to believe you're only a few minutes from Sydney City Centre or the shopping mecca of Chatswood. You can walk right along the path to Sailors Bay itself, or take a left fork and climb up the hill to The Redoubt in Castlecrag, and walk back to the shops at Edinburgh Rd where you can find some excellent cafes and restaurants.

Beautiful views and a nice short walk along the cliff of the North Head. Some wildlife can be seen in the area. Plenty of historical places to see and visit here. Very nice area, clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking available on site. Highly recommended on a clear sunny day!

Absolutely beautiful and quiet. Away from the usual loud area in Watson's Bay. This is a great quiet beach to take your girlfriend too to have a nice picnic. Alternatively you could pick up a fish n chip takeaway from Doyle's then head over to here. Takes about a 5 minute walk. Highly recommend.

My favourite spot in Sydney. Best views on the city, vertical cliffs, lots of wildlife spotting (birds, dolphins, whales). Just gorgeous!

Great place for a walk. Nice views of some historical places and military installments as well as beaches and wildlife. Close the zoo, we had an hour walk here before going to the zoo. Was great to see the history. The creepy walk through the old military bunkers was amazing, highly recommend it.

Neilsen Park is a beautiful spot. Great for families & young n old alike. Very safe swimming beach.

Very interesting place. nice walk, great stories. I would definitely recommend the tour, it's cheap at $10 and and the tour guide Ron was excellent and had a lot of knowledge and had facts because he served in the wars and was at the school that used to be there. Nice to learn more about the history if our country.

Excellent way to have an overview of the harbour. Bella Vista cafe is great for celebrating birthdays. Very helpful staff and good menu to choose from with reasonable prices.
