Its amazing to find an observatory right in the heart of Sydney but it has a lot of history. Perfect for adults or children alight with so much to do and learn. When visiting at night you will have the chance of using both the very old telescope and the more modern one. Great place to visit if you are only in Sydney for a short time.

Great views from here. Really good if you're into astrology - guided tours are available. I just had a look myself - free admission but donations accepted. Very interesting.

Totally Brilliant! I would Highly Recommend! I took my 7 yr old yesterday and the Tour was AMAZING! 95% was interactive, great for kids, even if they’re not really into space or science. Was a great day and Grandma loved it too. Brilliant for ages 4 and up, adults will love it too. There are 2 flights of stairs to climb one pretty steep, but 2 guides to help. Thought it would be helpful to know about the stairs. It was an hour long and my son was engaged the whole time! Thanks for a great day!

There are many explanations on astronomy and the history of astronomy research conducted in Australia. There are also many astronomical tools such as binoculars on display here. There are also many computer simulations that we can "play" to make it easier for us to understand scientific explanations. Outside the observatory you can see a good view. Perfect spot for views of the harbor bridge and North Sydney.

I love this place. Preferably come at night when the sky is clear, might get a chance to view beautiful scenery. It is also good for school activities. Lots to learn about what's above apart from viewing through the lens. If there's a chance I will come again to explore more to instill more knowledge.

Perfect spot for views of the harbour bridge and North Sydney. Great spot for training and exercises. Needs a bit of maintenance as people leave chewing gum, bottles, etc at times. Good for picnic and for viewing new year’s fireworks. Also has some magnificent old trees.

This is a great place in Sydney to visit! I have experienced the day & night tour and will say they are both Amazing! They both show you the planetarium which is just the coolest thing ever! (won't spoil) The day tour lets you look at the sun and the night tour looks at the moon + some other planets if they are up in the sky! Also has great food places surrounding it such as Hero of Waterloo and the Lord Byron. For the cheap prices for these tours, it's a great weekend activity to take the family out to!

Fantastic journey through Australia's astronomy past. Lots of historical equipment, and the buildings themselves have been excellently preserved. It's interesting to see the major role that Australia played, and continues to play in the scientific studies of our universe.
