Very nice place, very close to a few Sydney iconic locations. It has that unique character. You better walk there as parking would be hard to find. Two Basketball courts, and one outdoor mini football (soccer) field.

I really like how you can play with 🏀 players who are experienced and at your level. The players are friendly and even took a few photos of our group!😄 I was able to teach my friends the basics and fundamentals of the game. I was also able to do 🏀 drills with them. Staff are friendly and tell you what time it closes. I really want to come back because of the competition and because I really want to improve my game!😄🙏❤💙💛

This is a great place for sports, whether it's one of their many weekday lunchtime or evening competitions, or just mucking about with friends. The courts look great, there's plenty of seating area, an electronic scoreboard too. We play futsal here, the balls KGV provide look a little worse for wear but no complaints really.

I have played indoor soccer (futsal). I think it's a new place.. You can come by yourself and pay 7 AUD or come in a group with different price..they organise teams of five players.. Meet and make new friends.. Néw experience.. The ground is quite okay 👌.. You can play different sports there like basketball.. I tell what I have been doing or experiencing 😊

Sure they've got some new equipment now but I would've preferred if they had instead installed proper air conditioning, or at least fixed those fans that apparently aren't working. Hold your breath when you're in the changeroom, and watch out for spiders and insects in the showers and lockers. There's not enough soap at the sink. $21 as a student for classes in these conditions just be aware.

Beautiful to come here early in the morning <3 Plenty of equipment with a great location on campus. Though I do wish it opened a bit earlier on weekends, maybe that's something that could be explored for busy times during semester? If I could get up at the same time every day for an early gym session that would be fantastic. I don't use the pool much but in the one time I did use it, it has had great temperatures in winter, a giant heated pool that feels great

At men's room, thief stole my brand new Tommy jacket at around 1 pm of 22/07/2018. There is camera outside the room but staff and campus security don't have access to it. Be aware of the thief in UNSW!! Besides, hair drier in the men's room of swimming pool is extremely dirty! No one ever cleans them!

Been coming here since 2003. Good gym with all weights facilities anyone would need. Nice and quiet in the mornings. Lunchtime classes also great. Does get busy in evenings.

Great gym. Decent amount of equipment. They have recently upgraded a lot of rooms and equipment so they are actively listening to members and improving where it’s needed. Let’s not forget it’s run by the YMCA so there’s great community feel too. There’s a massive amount of classes run upstairs and on the gym floor, not to mention the Wellness studio for women. This facility doesn’t get enough credit tbh.

First impression of the gym was good, but I was quite upset at the swimming pool today. When I swam all the way to the deep water side and stopped to breathe by holding the floating line, one of the staff came forward and told me to take hands off the line coz it will be broken. He totally did not care what I was feeling at that moment. I was feeling a bit hard to breath and that was why I stopped and tried to grab anything that could potentially help me to stay calm. Instead of caring people first, he cared a line more than a person's life. He did not even ask if I was ok.

This centre is really a gift given to us by the Blacktown Council We all have to thank them for that But unfortunately, I am seeing a big change in this centre since it has started no blame on the centre management but it’s the people who use this centre They are not caring this centre at all Wearing inappropriate dress in the pool Eating near the pool area and throwing food around the babies pool area Using the bathroom for longer without thinking that people waiting outside Wasting water And jumping to pool without prior shower etc… People should know that the pool is mainly for their kids and keeping it clean and hygiene is extremely important Please follow the rules of the pool and keep this centre for our kids and future and I hope the management will imply some more strict rules to keep this place clean

The wave pool is great for the kids. The 25m pool is nice, if a little small. It has a ramp and they have a waterproof wheelchair (although the lifeguards won't assist, so make sure you can either get out yourself or have someone to help you). BUT the change rooms are really not great, especially the accessible ones. There are only two family/accessible change rooms (at a pool built to appeal to families) and they are tiny. There's barely enough room to have my small manual wheelchair and the waterproof wheelchair in there at the same time, and definitely not enough if you add a carer. They are so small that there is nowhere in the room that doesn't get wet from the shower including the toilet, sink, door etc., so unless I want it to get soaked, I have to leave my wheelchair outside and hope nothing happens to it. Even this only works if I have a carer with me. There's no accessible option in the main change rooms, which are the old school variety with very little privacy. They somehow managed to build a great modern aquatic centre with change rooms designed fifty years ago. Bottom line: I only go here if I have no other options.

Great indoor pool, good for adults, kids and toddlers alike. Perfect for the hot summer months with the kids. Unfortunately the kids outdoor play centre, and the Olympic size pool has very little shade, but that's not a big negative since the indoor pool is enough most of the time. The centre could use a few more family friendly change rooms. I went with my daughter and the small change room doesn't have a whole lot of spare space for me to help her get changed. Good variety of food at the centre cafeteria, though a few more kid friendly and healthy options would be nice.

Been a member here for over a couple of years now. Reception staff aren’t customer service orientated and lack the energy to be positive, polite, personable or even smile. Contrary to this, the facilities are great, to reiterate though, if you need to go to reception for any reason, do not expect to receive good customer service, feel valued or appreciated. I’ve met a number of people whom have cancelled their membership or gone elsewhere due to reception staff being rude, nasty, condescending etc...

Came here with my 5 kids on two occasions and got charged the family rate (2 adults 3 kids) just over $19. Came back today and the receptionist tried to charge me $27 I told her i came 3 days ago and got charged the family rate. They had some excuse of how a child can't count as a adult so they have to charge me a child rate on top of the family rate. I asked the receptionist why would two different staff members charge me a family rate and they want to add another child to the family rate. The excuse is the staff members must of been new. Rude receptionist. Obviously bad staff training and bad communication if different staff charge different prices

Such an enjoyable place. I can see how locals would find it a regular spot to visit for adults and young kids alike. We attended the toddler zone for my 3 year old on a Monday. I brought my sister and her boyfriend along as well as my grandmother as I was heavily pregnant at the time but all were welcome. A great space and fantastic (and firm) staff. Love the little cafe overlooking everything as well. I can imagine as the kids get older it would be even more fun to join in on.

It's quite far if you are going to get there by public transportation and by walk, but it's worth the effort to have an amazing time with your mates. Check for the offers on their website, you might want to plan which day to go according to them. I recommend not to bring much stuff with you, lockers are small and expensive ($2 for a shoes-sized locker).

Pretty good, not as good as Miranda. Miranda felt like it had a bit more freedom. Young lady with brown at the front desk was really nice and sweet. A guy that used to work at Miranda was really nice as well. Noticed a blonde lady making fun of my friend silently. Who went on a trampoline for his first time ever. That was rude. Other then that everyone was nice and had fun.

Kids under 10 will enjoy spending an hour here. I wouldn’t recommend adults getting a ticket unless they are especially keen or doing a special class. Staff were friendly, crowd size was manageable on our visit. It’s an expensive option for passing time though, you also have to purchase special Skyzone socks (we had identical grippy socks from another similar venue which were not allowed) and lockers and food are also expensive. Sessions we purchased last an hour. If you can get a special deal (they seem to come up time to time), it becomes a much more viable family day out.

I have trained at this pool many times over the years but today was the straw that broke the camels back. The indoor pool was absolutely infested with big cockroaches! There were SO many of them in and around the pool. I had to flick at least 6 of them out of the lane in the half hour I was there. Really left feeling disgusted.

I’ve been training here (pool and gym) regularly since the pool opened after the renovation (about 5-6 years ago). The facilities and staff are outstanding. I have never encountered rudeness from staff, and am really surprised by the number of negative reviews. I have generally found the facilities to be extremely well managed. I love the fact that the outdoor 50m pool can be utilised all year round - it’s kept at about 25 degrees right through winter. It’s very difficult to find pools like this in Sydney. The gym is well equipped, and much of the equipment has just been renewed. I have gained so much from this place, and feel fortunate to be able to access it.

Very good gym facilities. Free lockers. The outdoor pool is great. Just avoid coming when there are too many kids. Had very limited interactions with the staff so cannot say if the service really is so bad.

I liked going there though it got very crowded. The swimming is family oriented so lots and lots of children and parents at certain times. Their fees are relatively affordable and I really hope they keep it that way so that people can easily access fitness activities. They have really poor customer service, which I discovered later on, hence the low stars.

This is the best place for pools. It got indoor and outdoor pools. Outdoor lanes are 50M and indoor once are 25M. In indoor their is additional pool and lanes for kids. Indoor lot of water area belongs to kids for playing in water. Also the lanes are more. Many lanes are occupied for various classes and training but still enough for walk-in people's. My family are using this centre for years and always enjoyed our moments however I found the stuff sometimes act a bit snobbish and hesitate to act more friendly. I think for the family oriented centre such as this centre it's important to management to work harder on their stuff attitude.

The kids pool closed 30 mins after we arrived with no explanation. Front desk didn't mention when we arrived, otherwise wouldn't have gone in just for the kids to be disappointed.

The day my son went Shiny star was a bit of raining that I have concerned for excursion to Treetops. I have received a SMS that due to safety concern at the site not from Treetops but the carer of Shiny star they have cancelled the activity but worked out Movie instead that was a good impression of Shiny star that they care about safety. Also, loved for the fact they support community for working full time parents the hours are very generous from 7am to 6:30pm at no extra cost.

I will admit that I was swayed by the other reviews on Google, and not keen on going here. However, having been, I was pleasantly surprised. While some elements of this play centre may seem run down or old on first impression, overall it was still good. There is a large range of multi-storey/level, multi-age, interactive equipment and even some interactive electronic equipment where kids can put balls into a machine that spits them out from the ceiling. The trampoline is also a fun inclusion. The larger of the softplay areas is suitable for ages 1½-4, and the smaller areas cater to younger toddlers and up. If your toddler/child can walk and climb, the whole centre is suitable. Older kids may have fun in the basketball area, or even on the larger softplay area. Parents can supervise from larger areas within the play areas, or from outside on the sidelines. There is plenty of seating, and a couch or two. There are gendered toilets and visible children's toilets with change table area. On weekdays it isn't very busy, and it's a very easy outing. If you're not keen on the food offered at the centre, there are plenty of good restaurants and cafés in the Bakehouse Quarter, within metres of the centre. Closest parking is opposite the centre, near the ALDI. Undercover parking is not too far away, in the middle of the Bakehouse Quarter. It's definitely worth a try. We will be going back again.

This place is so dirty that my son's knees, hands and socks were black after playing here. The equipment is old and broken and many children are unsupervised. The staff neglected to tell us they stopped serving drinks at 1:30pm, then were rude when we asked about it. I wouldn't go here again if you paid me.

Since the change of management, this centre has lost its charm. The coffee ($4.30 for a flat white) isn’t as good as before. And it’s puzzling why they charge an adult an admission when no coffee is included in the fee. Considering the admission for two adults and two children is $32 and the dated equipment, Shiny Star is losing its competitive edge to other indoor play centres

This play centre makes adults pay $4.50 entry. Umm excuse me but the only reason you make money is because I bring my kids. It’s not like I’m going to hog the slides and ball pitt. Won’t be going there again.

A wonderful venue for a special event, such as the successful launch of my new book "The Vanishing of Venice" Assisted by Janine, the centre co-ordinator, an appropriate sized room was chosen to accomadate my sixty guests. Excellent central facility with no fuss parking available. Each Tuesday l join my "Big Sing " fraternity to applaude Avalon's community spirit in the centre, with our heartfelt singing.

Attended A youth service called C3 Youth Avalon, never have I seen such a great place for youth to come and spend time together although it was a church group they made everyone feel like they belonged no matter what they believed.

Big swimming pool inside is being done up. Workers were working on swimming pool were wearing masks and creating a lot of dust. They had one door open. When they saw me taking photos and complaining about the dust they opened up more doors. Some staff were wearing masks but they did not offer masks to any other people. Couldn’t they have done the pool when people weren’t there? Weird. Michelle at reception needs a bit more training as she can come off as being rude and lazy. Toilet seat in bathroom was shocking! Cockroach fell out of hand dryer when I went to dry my hands.

This is our last time here after years of waiting for change , there is never a lane to just casually play in , EVERY lane is for lessons or laps . We are following the rest of the family and changing to stanhope , at least there you have an area to just be with the kids and not worry about lessons or laps , very disappointed in emerton pools .
